You're invited to take the Belgrade Land Use Plan Survey!

Building upon the Clearly Belgrade master planning effort and the Montana Land Use Planning Act, the Belgrade Land Use Plan combines data from these projects to synthesize a Land Use Plan for Belgrade's future.

This survey will continue to collect your ideas alongside common ideas heard from the community and goals that may still be relevant from Belgrade's comprehensive plan!

We aren't starting from scratch!
Over the past two years, the community has shared hundreds of comments through various feedback channels, including meetings, surveys, and engagement opportunities. We look forward to continued community input to shape Belgrade's upcoming planning goals.

We want to hear more, and this survey will get your words and ideas directly to the project team!

Take the Land Use Plan survey today: https://tinyurl.com/36k4safa

Belgrade has been undertaking a comprehensive strategic planning effort, called Clearly Belgrade, aimed at creating a unified vision across Transportation, Infrastructure, Land Use, and Parks & Recreation across the City of Belgrade.

Belgrade to Kick-Off Decommissioning of Former Lagoons in August!

After 20+ years of sludge buildup, our lagoons have reached the end of their life. With Phase 1 of the new treatment plant complete, we’re moving into long-planned improvements - reflecting years of preparation, not recent growth.

Here are 5 Things you should know about the project!

- Phased Improvement, Part of Larger Vision
Temporary odors are expected as the City begins sludge removal - part of a long-planned step toward modernizing the treatment facility. Decommissioning the lagoons will lead to cleaner water, fresher air, and a more advanced system.

- The Lagoons Are Still In Use
The lagoons still store treated wastewater, act as emergency backup, and support the final steps in the wastewater treatment upgrade while improvements are made to other areas of the facility.

- Odors Are Not Harmful, Just Unpleasant
The smell comes from hydrogen sulfide - the same gas behind the “rotten egg” smell. It is not dangerous to breathe at the levels observed.

- Will The Odors Go Away?
Once the work is complete, odors should be significantly reduced. Occasional maintenance may cause brief odors, but these should be infrequent and short-lived.

- Next Steps
Decommissioning starts in mid to late summer 2025, wrapping up by year’s end. You may notice stronger odors during this time, but we’ll take steps to minimize them.

You are heard! The Belgrade Regional Parks & Recreation District Master Plan Looks for Community Feedback.

Thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts and concerns! We want to emphasize that the interactive map for the Belgrade Regional Parks, Trails, and Recreation District is conceptual only and meant to facilitate a visioning exercise to imagine the possibilities.

The District does not intend to build any trails on private property without the owner’s consent. The trails that were shown on private property were removed from the conceptual map to avoid any confusion, and District staff invites community members to identify alternative trail connections in the northern portion of the District where feasible.

Please make sure to take the online survey so your input is included in the data the team is collecting and keep tabs on the webpage for information on future public meetings and additional opportunities for feedback.
