The Observatory will be opened on Friday, Oct 16 and Saturday Oct 17 by the Puckett's Pond area parking lot. Volunteers from Northern Cross Science Foundation will help you view the night sky from 8 to 11 pm.

New mats were laid on the sand extending from the ramp coming onto the North beach from the lower parking lot. They will give people using wheel chairs or walkers more space to sit or picnic on the beach.

Harvest Hike Cancelled

Due to the forecasted weather and the condition of the trails, the Friends of Harrington Beach State Park Harvest Hike scheduled for Saturday, September 19, has been cancelled.

We hope to reschedule the Harvest Hike and look forward to gathering at the park when conditions are better.

Enjoy the fall evening on Saturday, 9/19 from 6 pm to 9 pm sponsored by the Friends of HBSP. A shuttle bus will provide rides between the upper and lower parking lots. Trails will be marked from both parking lots and the campground and around Quarry Lake, and will have tiki torch lights showing the way as the sun sets. Free chili, desserts, and beverages will be available at the Ansay Welcome Center, as well as music by Steve Vogt. Donations will be gratefull accepted there. Naturalist Phyllis could help you decorate a walking stick at the Puckett's Pond picnic shelter, starting at 5 pm.
The Observatory will be opened at 8 pm with their volunteers likely also setting up some telescopes in the upper parking lot.
Vehicle admission sticker or charge is required.

Observatory will be open tonight, 9/11, from 8 to 11 pm, according to a short notice received from Joyce from the Northern Cross Science Foundation. You can look through the big telescope in the Observatory, or through ones that their members bring and set up in the parking lot near the Observatory.
