Belfast Fire & Rescue was proud to participate in the Horsepower for Heroes Car Show today at Stanley Chevrolet !

Tanker 5 and Engine 2 were on display, giving members of the community a chance to get an up-close look at some of our apparatus and visit with our crews. Our on-duty crew also stopped by with Engine 4 and Rescue 3.

All donations collected during today’s event were directed to the Waldo County Firefighters Association’s Robbins Relief Fund.

Thank you to Stanley Chevrolet for hosting the event and inviting us to be part of it, and thank you to everyone who came out, stopped by, and showed their support!

Today, Belfast Fire & Rescue remembers the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS providers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We honor their courage, their service, and the countless lives forever changed.

We will never forget.

PUBLIC NOTICE – PROPANE FLARE

Downeast Energy is currently conducting a controlled propane burn-off at Hannaford in Belfast.

A large flame may be visible from Lincolnville Avenue and the surrounding area. This is part of a controlled operation and there is no emergency or hazard to the public at this time.

Please do not be alarmed if you see the flame.

Belfast Fire & Rescue would like to congratulate FF/AEMT Tristan Lewis on successfully completing the Penobscot County Fire Academy!

During graduation, Tristan was also presented with the Jim Ellis Memorial Award. This award is presented to a Penobscot County Fire Academy student who demonstrates courage, leadership, and outstanding moral character, honoring the legacy of the late Chief Jim Ellis.

Being selected for this award is an outstanding accomplishment and speaks highly of Tristan’s character, dedication, and commitment to the fire service.

We are extremely proud to have Tristan as a member of Belfast Fire & Rescue.

WE’RE HIRING – PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTER

The City of Belfast Fire & Rescue Department is accepting applications for a full-time Paramedic/Firefighter.

Starting rate for Firefighter/Paramedic is $28.39/hour, with an excellent benefits package. AEMTs currently working toward their Paramedic license are encouraged to apply.

Applications are due September 15, 2026 at 6:00 PM.

Kayden has worked incredibly hard to reach this milestone, putting in countless hours of studying, training, and hands-on work. His dedication and determination have paid off, and we couldn’t be more excited to see him take this next step in his EMS career.

🚒 PUBLIC NOTICE – HYDRANT ACTIVITY 🚒

If you notice water flowing from the fire hydrant in front of Stanley Chevrolet on Belmont Avenue, please be advised that this is being done intentionally as part of the ongoing water main work in the area.

The hydrant has been opened as part of the work related to today’s water main break. There is no need to report the open hydrant to emergency services.

Please continue to use caution while traveling through the area, as crews and construction vehicles remain active along Belmont Avenue.
