NORTH MASON EMS LEVY RENEWAL – 2026
On August 4, 2026, the North Mason Regional Fire Authority will ask voters to renew its expiring Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Levy. This is not a new tax. The Fire Authority has maintained an EMS Levy for more than 40 years. The State of Washington requires voters to renew the levy every six years to ensure EMS services continue providing value to the community.
The EMS Levy provides funding for paramedic, EMT, and ambulance transport services in North Mason.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
If approved by voters, the EMS Levy renewal will continue to fund and sustain critical emergency medical services throughout our community, including:
• Paramedic and EMT services
• Ambulance transport services
• Advanced medical equipment maintenance and acquisition
• Basic and advanced medical training for emergency response personnel
• Emergency response staffing at the Trails End Lake Fire Station, reducing response times throughout the Fire Authority
EMS calls account for approximately 85% of the 3,000 annual emergency responses in North Mason, including cardiac arrests, strokes, traumatic injuries, breathing emergencies, and vehicle collisions.
WHEN
The levy renewal will appear on the ballot during the August 4, 2026, Primary Election. If approved, it will provide uninterrupted EMS funding beginning in 2027 for another six-year term.
COST
The proposed EMS levy rate would be assessed at $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value starting next year. The $0.50 EMS levy rate is the same rate approved by voters last time in 2020.
A home assessed at $500,000 would pay approximately:
• $250 per year
• $20.83 per month
