Maryland State Police, Bel Air Barrack Maryland State Police, Barrack "D" Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack have the responsibility for providing full police services in Harford County.

This county is a suburban area, 13 miles north of Baltimore City, with a population of over 242,000 people and encompassing 440 square miles. Duties of a Bel Air trooper range from keeping our highways safe through directed traffic enforcement, investigation of a full-range of criminal activity and investigation of motor vehicle accidents. lice installations and was born soon after the birth of the Maryland State Police in 1921. We are incredibly proud of our crime fighting heritage which has endured for 90+ years.

Congratulations to TFC Neal, TFC O'Donald and TFC De La Cruz. They were recognized last night by Harford County State's Attorney Alison Healey for their outstanding efforts in DUI enforcement in 2025. Incidentally, the three troopers were members of the same academy class, #151.

If you’re thinking about becoming a Maryland State Trooper, the time to prepare is now. Each week, our Education & Training Division will share a workout designed to help future candidates build the strength and endurance needed for the MSP Academy.

This Week’s Trooper Training Workout:
🏃 Run 400 meters (about ¼ mile)
💪 15 push-ups
🔥 20 sit-ups

There will likely be increased traffic congestion on Emmorton Road in Abingdon tomorrow due to the new coffee shop's event. Please be patient and obey all traffic laws. Troopers will be in the area taking enforcement action on those choosing not to.
