The Beecher Fire Protection District is proud to announce that we have been selected as a 2026 ComEd and Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Powering Safe Communities Grant recipient!

Through this grant, the District has been awarded $8,321, representing a 50% cost share toward the purchase of new equipment. This funding will help us replace our aging thermal imaging cameras and rescue saws with updated equipment that will improve firefighter safety and enhance our capabilities during emergency operations.

We are extremely grateful to ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus for their continued investment in public safety and for supporting fire departments and communities throughout the region.

Thank you for helping us continue to provide our firefighters with the tools they need to safely and effectively serve our community!

A huge THANK YOU to Buddy’s Drive-In for taking care of our firefighters tonight and providing dinner for our crews!

Our firefighters have been working throughout the day responding to storm-related emergencies across our community. After a long and busy day, having a hot meal waiting for them was greatly appreciated.

We are incredibly fortunate to have local businesses like Buddy’s Drive-In that continually step up and support our first responders and our community when it matters most.

Thank you, Buddy’s, for thinking of our crews and keeping them fed tonight! Your generosity and support truly mean a lot to all of us at the Beecher Fire Protection District. 🚒❤️

⚠️ POWER OUTAGE & GENERATOR SAFETY REMINDER ⚠️

Most of the Village of Beecher and Washington Township is currently without power following the damaging storms that moved through our area early this afternoon.

Thankfully, at this time, we have no known injuries in our community.

As residents begin using portable generators, the Beecher Fire Protection District would like to remind everyone to use them safely:

• Keep generators OUTSIDE and at least 20 feet away from your home, doors, windows, and vents.
• NEVER operate a generator inside a home, garage, or other enclosed space, even with the garage door open.
• Point generator exhaust away from your home. Carbon monoxide (CO) is odorless, poisonous, and can be deadly.
• Make sure your home has working carbon monoxide alarms.
• Plug appliances directly into the generator or use properly rated outdoor extension cords.
• Never refuel a hot or running generator. Turn it off and allow it to cool first.

⚡ Always treat downed power lines as LIVE. Stay clear and keep others away.

Please continue to use caution as cleanup and power restoration efforts continue throughout our community.

Tuesday morning pump training:

Let’s talk rural operations.

Securing water in the rural part of our Fire District requires proficiency in drafting, an alternative technique to pumping from the typical (dry-barrel) fire hydrants within village limits. During this operation, the engineer cycles un-pressurized water through the pump to charge hose lines, feed other engines, and pressurize other appliances that fight fire.

Dry hydrants give an engineer the capability to draft water from a static source, such as a lake or pond.

It may look like we’re just watering the fish at the Beecher Sportsmen's Club, but we’re really taking advantage of every opportunity to refine this skill and maintain the standard in service delivery to our community.
