We are aware of recent posts circulating on social media about juvenile crime.

Our officers and investigators have arrested or submitted charges on a number of juvenile offenders this summer. We take all acts of criminal behavior seriously and we will keep making arrests when the facts and law allow.

What we cannot do is decide whether a juvenile stays in custody or is released. That decision is not made by the Beebe Police Department or the City of Beebe. White County does not have a juvenile detention facility, so many of the young people we arrest are released and, unfortunately, continue to commit crimes. That is the unfortunate reality that we are facing.

We understand why that is frustrating for our community. Trust me, our officers and investigators feel it too. They feel like their work is mostly in vain. Likewise, residents see the same names come back around and assume nothing is being done. The arrests are being made. The charges are being submitted. However, detention and long-term accountability sit with the juvenile court staff- who is forced to operate within the resources that are allocated to them.

PRESS RELEASE

In the early morning hours of September 2nd officers with the Beebe Police Department along with a rescue unit from the Beebe Fire Dept. were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive male lying on the side of the road on West Georgia St. Upon arrival in the area officers located the male subject who was being given CPR by the caller. Officers and firefighters then took over life saving measures until EMS arrived.
The male who was later identified as Joseph Vincent, age 20 was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. There were no signs of physical marks or trauma located on Mr. Vincent and the case is under investigation. Mr. Vincent was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for a determination of cause of death.
We ask that you join us in support and prayer for Mr. Vincent’s family and friends as they navigate this tough time.
We greatly appreciate the willingness and aid of the citizens that were on scene and helping until emergency services arrived.

Conway Police have reported to us that the missing juvenile that was reported to them today was dropped of at the Wal Mart here in Beebe a little after 9AM today. Anyone with any information as to her whereabouts please notify our dispatch center at 501-279-6231 or the Conway Police Dept.

UPDATE! FOUND SAFE!

Aaliya Pope has been located and is safe.

MISSING JUVENILE

The Conway Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing juvenile.

Aaliya Pope, 14, was last seen around 4:30 a.m. in the area of 2010 Rich Smith Lane. Her direction of travel is unknown.

She is approximately 5'5", with blonde hair, blue eyes, and wears glasses. She also has a red birthmark on her upper leg.

Last seen wearing gray shorts, gray zip-up jacket and gray crocs.

If you have seen Aaliya or have any information regarding her whereabouts, please contact the Conway Police Department immediately at 501-450-6120 or call 911.

A few of you noticed the increased law enforcement presence on North Elm Street earlier. We just wanted to let you know there’s no danger to the community.

Members of the Beebe Police Department located a person who was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service. Officers attempted to get the person to surrender, but he refused to come out of the house.

The U.S. Marshals Service was notified of the situation and responded to the scene. After multiple failed attempts to call the person out of the home, the Beebe Police Department, led by K-9 Odin, and the U.S. Marshals entered the residence. The individual was taken into custody and transported to the jail.

K-9 Odin is the epic master of hide and seek and we are proud to announce that he remains undefeated.

Everything is fine, and there’s no threat to the public.

Just an FYI, we have been in contact with Union Pacific and made them aware that all the crossings are blocked. According to their information there is something wrong with the train. Currently there is no estimated time of repair however we are told that they are diligently working on the problem to correct it.

Early Tuesday morning, a dirt bike was reported stolen from a residence within the city. Earlier this afternoon, detectives with the Beebe Police Department located and recovered the dirt bike in McRae. The vehicle was successfully returned to its owners
