So now that your apparatus may have been at a job for hours it’s now time to check for cold weather issues!!

Do a normal daly/weekely check!!

Do this outside!!! Don’t run them in the bay in the exhaust system other than idle!! They are not designed to handle the heat and flow!!

Run the pump at 150 total discharge presure with tank to pump 100% open, tank to pump less than 50% open

Make sure all the pressure gauges are showing ZERO when not use

Make sure you don’t have a “small” water leak. This could be from a line that supplies your gauges and main drain.

Make sure you remove all you discharge caps and Zero water is present

Call if need issues looked at !

With the EXTREME cold let’s help your pump operators win the fight !

REMOVE every discharge cap! Put them away and let the water leak out if the valves leak by

If they are capped and water leaks by it will freeze and have the stong possibility to burst pipes and fittings. Give the frozen water an exit

Open all your discharge drains! Let the water from them leak out while your in quarters.

Depending on your configuration these also drain your pressue gaugaes. Take the 10 seconds to close them before you go on the next run to close them up. And if you forget and miss one it’s dry and can be closed, if caught early!!!

Move water every run you are on. Open take to pump 100% and open tank fill about 50% or less. Pump the pump in gear and idle up plus 200-300 RPM from ldle!

If you find yourself at a fire MOVE water. Find a location to see water moving and not make an ice rink that will impact your job!
