Every year on September 11th at exactly 0846 hours, our dispatch centers pause all non-emergency radio traffic to broadcast a solemn message of remembrance to every police officer, firefighter, and paramedic serving our community.

At 8:46am 25 years ago today, American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, changing our nation forever. In that instant, thousands of innocent lives were cut short, and hundreds of brave first responders ran directly toward danger without hesitation.

Behind the console, our telecommunicators are honored to be the crucial link between our citizens and the brave men and women on the front lines. On Patriot Day, we reaffirm our commitment to standing guard over our community, maintaining the shield of freedom, and upholding the values that define the American spirit: resilience, unity, and sacrifice.

Harry S. Truman said it best when he said: “America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand."

⚠️Mayfield Rd @ Brantly Rd & Winston Rd / Plainfield Rd

The gas company is currently on scene working to resolve the issue, and emergency crews are monitoring the area.

Drivers should expect delays, seek alternate routes, and allow extra travel time. If you live or work nearby, please remain cautious and follow any instructions from first responders on scene.

🌩️ SEVERE STORM UPDATE — 8:38 PM 🌩️

Mother Nature has apparently chosen violence tonight. 😂

A nasty, rowdy line of storms is plowing ESE, with severe thunderstorm warnings lighting up the map. We’re talking 40–60 mph winds and hail up to quarter size — because apparently regular rain wasn’t dramatic enough. 🧊💨

Basically, Mother Nature is driving around throwing ice cubes at us and yelling, “DUCK!” 😂

Stay alert, stay weather-aware, and maybe bring the patio furniture inside before it decides to relocate itself to your neighbor’s yard.
