This office prosecutes both misdemeanors and felonies that occur in both the Town and County of Bedford. This page was created as another method that our citizens, business owners, and other stakeholders can both receive information and ask questions about the criminal justice system in our community. Amazing job by Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Stacey Stickney, the Bedford Victim/Witness Program, and the Bedford County Sheriff's Office VA. The 12 month active jail sentence was twice what was recommended by Virginia's sentencing guidelines. Ms. Stickney's aggressive prosecution revealed to the Court the aggravated nature of the crimes, which led to the upward deviation by Judge Updike. Great example of teamwork here in Bedford County!

Wednesday, January 28th, our office will open at noon along with all Bedford courts. The morning docket in GDC will be rescheduled.

All Bedford County Courts are once again closed Tuesday January 27th. All cases will be rescheduled. Please stay safe on the still dangerous roads. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Bedford General District Court will be closed on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 due to continued inclement weather and road conditions.

All Bedford Courts are officially closed Monday January 26th. Our office will be closed as well. Bedford County Circuit Court has also announced it will be closed Tuesday. All cases impacted by the closure will be rescheduled once the courthouse reopens.
