Our Story
United Way of South Central Indiana is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. We serve the communities of Lawrence County and Orange County Indiana.
Our History: Our organization originally incorporated as a nonprofit organization, United Way of Lawrence County Inc. . We received our tax exempt status 64 years ago in 1956 from the IRS under Section 501(c)(3). (*By Federal law, all nonprofit organizations are required to incorporate first, and then file for tax exemption determination as a nonprofit organization.)
In 2007, United Way of Lawrence County Inc. filed with the Indiana Secretary of State to Do Business As (DBA) United Way of South Central Indiana.
Our Mission: United Way of South Central Indiana works to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our community to advance the common good. We provide the ability for families and individuals in need to obtain a job, have access to education, and find health resources. When you support United Way of South Central Indiana you help us to create hope and a more secure future for our community.
