An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable, life-saving device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest. It analyzes the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, delivers an electric shock to help restore a normal heartbeat.
AEDs are designed for use by anyone. The device provides clear, step-by-step audio and visual instructions to guide the user through the process.

As part of CPR & AED Awareness Week, we’re proud to introduce our instructors. Meet Emily! 😊
Emily began her journey in EMS in 2019, earning her EMT-B certification while attending college in Ohio and volunteering with a local fire department. It didn’t take long for her to discover that EMS was where she was meant to be. After relocating to Bedford in 2023, she joined the team at Bedford Area Ambulance Service.
Beyond her work on the ambulance, Emily is passionate about serving her community and loves sharing her knowledge by teaching basic life support skills to others.
