June is heating up with some fun events around Bedford! πŸ“† Mark your calendars now for:

🍦 Weekly Ice Cream Socials (Fridays, June 5, 12, 19, and 26): Beat the summer heat and enjoy an ice cream treat, courtesy of H-E-B. Each Friday morning, Parks and Recreation staff will bring a cold treat to a different Bedford park, along with some fun and games. Tune into Bedford Parks and Recreation social media accounts each Thursday to find each week's location.

❀️ Juneteenth Celebration (Friday, June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Old Bedford School): The City is teaming up with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for this free event featuring various performances, including the dance group Eloquent Movement, Brown Girls do Ballet, music from Extended PLAY, storytelling from Oba William King, food trucks, bounce houses, and more. Learn more at www.bedfordtx.gov/juneteenth.

⚽ FIFA World Cup Watch Party (Thursday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at The Bedford Center YMCA): Join us for this family-friendly event, as we watch Mexico take on South Korea in the World Cup. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. on the lawn behind The Bedford Center YMCA with kid-friendly activities, drop-in soccer games, snow cones, and a food truck on-site. Then at 8 p.m., we’ll head inside the facility to watch the match together on the big screen.

🍿 Dive-In Movie: Finding Nemo (Friday, June 19 at 7 p.m. at Roy Savage Pool): Just keep swimming with a showing of Finding Nemo (2003, G) on the big screen. The movie will begin at sunset and tickets are $4 per person (over the age of two).

🎨 Needle Felted Cacti (Sunday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Coffee, Tea & Books): No green thumb? No problem! Join us to learn how to needle felt your very own cactus in this beginner-friendly class. Each participant will create a cactus and take home a needle felting kit to keep the creativity going. Tickets are $25 per person.

πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ¨ Sip and Paint (Wednesday, June 24 at 5 p.m. at Turning Point Beer): Grab a beverage from Turning Point Beer and paint your own watercolor masterpiece! All supplies for the craft will be provided. This is a free event to attend, and all ages are welcome.

Roy Savage Pool is back open! Open Swim is from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. All evening programming will take place as scheduled, including Water Works Plus and the Bedford SURF Swim Team.

🚨 Pool Closure Notice 🚨

Roy Savage Pool will be closed for the remainder of today due to mechanical issues.

As a result, all morning swim lessons and 50 & Better Water Aerobics class scheduled for Monday, June 1, have been canceled.

We will post updates on the City Website and all social media platforms.

Stop by Central Park (1201 Central Drive) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for a morning of inflatable waterslides, arts and crafts, music, and food, while supplies last. Be sure to pack your picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and plenty of sunscreen, and enjoy the morning at Fun Before the Fest before we party into the night at Bedford 4thFest. This event is free to attend.

Bedford’s annual July Fourth celebration returns from 5 to 10 p.m. at Generations Park at Boys Ranch, 2801 Forest Ridge Dr. Bedford 4thFest will feature free live music by the Downtown Fever Band, a kid’s zone, food trucks, and a spectacular fireworks show when the sun goes down. Admission to 4thFest is FREE. Feel free to bring lawn chairs, blankets, coolers, and non-alcoholic beverages (no glass containers are permitted). The fireworks show will begin around 9:30 p.m. and will be shot off from Generations Park at Boys Ranch.

Additional details on parking, road closures, and food trucks will be available online in the coming weeks at www.bedfordtx.gov/4thfest.
