Sunday is bag day at the Friends of the Bedford Free Public Library. Fill a bag for $10. There are many great books for adults, teens and children still to choose from. Be sure to check out both the non-fiction section (Friends Room) and fiction section (Meeting Room). Hours are 1 pm until 4 pm on Sunday, April 12. 7 Mudge Way, Bedford.

Our book sale starts today. We have 1000s of books for sale across all genres. DVDs, CDs and a huge selection of puzzles and games. Come on over. Hours are:

- Thursday: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm - members preview sale (Not a member? No problem. You can join at the door.) This gives you peaceful, early access to the best selections.
- Friday: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
- Saturday: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Sunday: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Professor Dan Breen's lecture series starts on February 1st, 2 pm - 4 pm, 1st floor meeting room. A great way to get out of the house.

This weeks topic: The Portland Gale of 1898, a retelling of a record-breaking storm that sank 150 ships, including the SS Portland, which went down with the loss of all 192 people aboard. It has often been called the worst maritime disaster of the 19th century.

A long time presenter at the library, Breen is professor of legal studies at Brandeis University. His past talks have included “Great American Songs,” “World War One,”” Great Moments in Space Exploration,” “The Plains Indians Wars,” and the “History of China.”
