Highs near or slightly over 100° is possible for today.
Heat indices of 100°-107° are still expected during the afternoon hours, as well as limited overnight relief with lows in the mid to upper 70s.
Heat remains for Friday but we start to introduce the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
While not in the briefing packet, important to note - SPC has our region in a Marginal or level 1 out of 5 for Friday and Saturday. Confidence is not real high at this time but the main threat would be gusty winds.

PLEASE DISPOSE OF SHARPS PROPERLY

We’re asking everyone who uses needles, syringes, or other sharps at the park to please dispose of them properly in the designated sharps containers located in the park bathrooms.

DO NOT leave needles or syringes on the ground, in trash cans, or around the park.

Discarded needles create a serious safety hazard for children, families, park staff, and other visitors who may accidentally come into contact with them.

If you use a needle, please take a moment to dispose of it safely in the provided sharps containers located in the bathrooms.

Help us keep the park clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for doing your part!

Uncomfortable heat and humidity, as well as lower-end chances for severe thunderstorms, will the main focuses of concern for this weekend. The western 2/3 of the forecast area are under a Heat Advisory that begins at 11 AM EDT/10 AM CDT this morning and lasts through 9 PM EDT/8 PM CDT Sunday evening for heat indices up to 109 both days. In terms of the potential for severe weather this weekend, the Storm Prediction Center has put our far northeastern counties in the Bluegrass under a Slight Risk for severe weather for later this afternoon and evening. For Sunday, the newest SPC Day 2 Outlook has most of southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky under a Slight Risk for severe weather as a cold front moves through the region late Sunday. Low confidence still remains ahead of Sunday's system given uncertainty in the timing, intensity, and coverage of storms.
