Three cheers to our outgoing President Liz Brown who initiated a new fundraiser this year which covered the student cost for our Rotary youth leadership awards weekend. She also helped us sell lots of 🦞 lobsters that helped us fund a district grant match for next Rotary year. Thank you Liz and please keep your great ideas flowing!

We had an insightful presentation today about the Hilltop Community Revitalization Project. There have been several homes in Bedford that have been renovated this past year for local families through the Dept. of Housing and Community Development program grant. Regional Planner Jefrado Granger (Central Virginia Planning District Commission) coordinated the housing construction and managed the processes with help from the Town of Bedford. Thank you for helping our friends in Bedford, Jefrado!

Wonderful Rotary gathering Friday! District Governor Andy Vanhook and DG Nominee Amber Wilborne joined us to explore how we can grow our club and make an even bigger impact. And thank you to SML Rotary President-elect Phillip Green for assisting our club with a $300 donation for our Falling Creek Park Adaptive Swing Grant project! 4 area clubs have stepped up to make our grant application stronger. Exciting stuff in Bedford!

Today’s meeting began with a moment of silence for the loss of a beloved Bedford craftsman and friend, William Ma**er, and it closed with a group selfie featuring Ella Bradford, this year’s Rotarian Youth awardee. But we also went on an informative journey to South Brazil with a presentation from Burt Duren, Chair of the Rotary District 7570 Friendship Exchange Committee. He led a group of a dozen Rotarians there recently to learn, explore and connect with Brazilian Rotarians before they visit us this Fall!
