Trying to think of some topics for a guest speaker this fall. What would be a subject you would like to learn more about? Let us know and we will work on getting a speaker on that subject.

Proud to say that Centreville still has it's old sign, on the south end of town!

We would like to thank everyone who came to our Scanning Blitz last Saturday. We acquired some new photos, some new genealogy information and new friends! We plan on holding another one in the future!

04/27/2016

The Society will be holding a Scanning Blitz on May 21, 2016 in room 5 of the old Centerville Elementary School starting at 10 am.
What is a scanning blitz? We will scan, on the spot, any old photos, documents, letters to our computer. This way, you get to keep your items and we have a copy of them for our archives. If you have any item that you wish to "donate" to the society, we will gladly accept them for our archives.
We will also, for a small fee, burn your scanned photos and documents to a CD for you or print them out for you.
The room and its contents will also be open for all who would like to see what we have.
Hope to see you there!

We will be hosting a Civil War encampment and reenactment on September 21, 2013 on Route 220 near the Pennsylvania/Maryland state line. This is the site of an actual encampment during the Civil War. The camp was to be just an overnight stay until the 1500 troops crossed into Maryland, but they ended up staying there for almost 2 weeks before the orders came through to leave. The camp's official name was Camp Mason and Dixon, but due to conditions at the unprepared camp, it became known as Camp Misery and Despair by the men.
Members of the PA Bucktails reenactment group will be there to show what a Civil War encampment was like.
The event is open to the public from 9 - 5 on Saturday, free of charge.
Hope to see you there.
