Beginning Monday, June 15, BCLW Consulting will be conducting a visual inspection of the Town’s trash and recycling cart inventory. Work is expected to occur over the course of 8 weeks on Mondays only, when assigned carts are typically set out for trash day. Residents may see BCLW in a marked vehicle or their staff who will be wearing yellow safety vests that were provided by Bedford DPW.

This annual inspection work includes visiting all municipal stops along the Town’s collection routes to record cart set out data, verify assigned cart numbers, and assess cart condition. DPW maintains an inventory of approximately 10,500 carts, at least half of which are nearing the end of useful life. By conducting this work, DPW can make proactive repairs and assess replacement need on a case-by-case basis, extending the useful life of the carts and keeping costs down.
