Do you know a librarian you absolutely 🧡 love 🧡? Nominate them for the prestigious I Love My Librarian Award! The national award recognizes the outstanding public service contributions of librarians working in public, school, college, community college or university libraries.

Ten librarians will receive $5,000 in recognition of their outstanding achievements and be honored during a special ceremony at the 2026 ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Fall is officially here, and it's looking gorgeous and spooky at the Bedford Branch! 💀✨At our Geode Skull Craft on 9/27, crafters turned plastic skulls into stunning, crystal-filled masterpieces. It was a fun and unique way to welcome the season. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

August 2025 meeting notes

Managers Report:
New manager for the Bedford branch coming end of October
Will Froliklong is leaving to be manager of Richmond/Gates Mills
Becky Baldwin is returning to her branch
Library brief survey: want feedback (Cuyahogalibrary.org/survey)
New CCPL director Jamar Rahming is on the job

Ice Cream Social:
Had to quickly pivot to indoors because of the weather
Around 250 people
6 tubs was enough
Bedford schools PR contact for next year (Jumar Newell)
City Water bill advertisement next year?
Senior Club school supply donations. Reach out to Sarah Gnoddie
Need class resource list? Do they have the boxes of school supplies?
Chairs and tables if outside for next year?
Some entertainment from the school? Jazz band, choir?
Next year start at 6:30 Pm to 8:00pm

Treasure’s Report:
$22.50 donated at Ice Cream Social
Flagstar Bank is charging us $10/month because we don’t carry high enough balance.
Voted to move money from CD to checking when it matures. Will move $3500 to checking.
Book sales: have a lot of adult books in the back, so sale on books right now to get through inventory.

Our Annual Ice Cream Social was again well attended! Because of the weather we had to quickly move the event inside the library but our volunteers made the best of it and served well over 250 people Mitchell’s ice cream to celebrate the start of the new school year.

July 2025 Meeting notes

Senior luncheon was successful:
21 new members

Bedford Night at the Movies
Paul and I attended
Gave away all the crafts

Ice Cream Social, August 20th from 7-8:30 pm in the parking lot
Mitchell’s Ice Cream has generously donated 2.5 gallons of ice cream and will take 25% off others
We need volunteers: scooping, man Friends table
We need 300 bowls, 300 spoons, napkins, chocolate sauce, and sprinkles. cherries, whipped cream (Sam’s Club?) and ice cream scoopers. Need gloves also. Tom & Cathy will check at their work for donations.
Music Kidz Bop, need big speaker (Tony?)
Have contacted Bedford schools
Have contacted free school supplies organization but probably not early enough. Fund raiser for the future with senior center???
Need to create a flyers and distribute to businesses and camp again
Volunteers come by 6:30 PM
Free books?
We are a 501c3
