Today, we recognize Juneteenth! On this day in 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston to announce the freedom of all enslaved people, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. This day honors the resilience, perseverance, and lasting legacy of those who fought for freedom, equality, and justice.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Juneteenth Celebration last Friday at Old Bedford School, held in partnership with the Alpha Beta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.. From the music and theatrical performances to the powerful storytelling, it was an evening of reflection, celebration, and community. ❤️

Join us for a free, family-friendly World Cup Watch Party as Mexico takes on South Korea on Thursday, June 18! The fun begins at 7 p.m. on the lawn behind The Bedford Center YMCA (2801 Forest Ridge Drive) and will feature:

🥅 Mini pick-up soccer games for kids (organized by the Bedford Euless Soccer Association)
⚽ An inflatable soccer kick challenge
🎨 Mini soccer ball decorating (while supplies last)
🛍️ Merchandise available for purchase from Atletico Dallas, North Texas' newest men's professional soccer team
🍧 Food and treats available for purchase from Flat Top Biscuits, Kona Ice, and Traveling Tom's Coffee Truck

We know many residents are hoping for a Team USA watch party. Due to previously scheduled City events and the timing of the USA group-stage matches, we weren't able to make it happen this round. But we're hopeful to host one if (fingers crossed 🤞) Team USA advances to the knockout stage!

Did you know Bedford uses EyeOnWater, an online tool that allows residents to monitor their water usage? 💧💧 Homeowners can create an account online and set leak alerts that send text and/or email notifications if there is a potential leak detected. There’s also an EyeOnWater app that has the ability to send you push notifications. The technology transmits consumption data every 24 hours, and displays water usage by the year, month, day, hour, or minute.
