The bold “V” in the center is more than a letter. It represents our Veterans, with the stars for honor and the stripes for courage. We hope this symbol reflects the lasting legacy of Bedford’s Veterans, past and present.

September 11, 2001, is forever etched in our nation’s memory. For veterans and military families here in Bedford, it is personal. We remember those who gave their lives, and we honor the generations of service members who stepped forward in the aftermath to protect our country.

The Bedford Veterans Advisory Committee stands united with all who served and sacrificed. We will never forget.

🇺🇸 Purple Heart Day – August 7 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or killed in combat while serving in the United States Armed Forces. The Purple Heart is our nation’s oldest military decoration, awarded to those who have made extraordinary sacrifices in defense of our freedoms.

The Town of Bedford Veterans Advisory Committee extends our deepest gratitude to all Purple Heart recipients in our community and across the country. Your courage, sacrifice, and commitment will never be forgotten.

Today, we celebrate the birth of our nation and the freedoms we hold dear. As we enjoy parades, barbecues, and fireworks, let’s also take a moment to reflect on those who’ve worn the uniform - and continue to serve - to protect the liberties we celebrate.

Freedom isn’t free. It’s paid for every day by men and women who raise their right hand in service to something bigger than themselves.

On behalf of the Veterans Advisory Committee, we wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and proud Fourth of July.
