High winds last night took out over a dozen utility poles in the Lewisboro/PR/Bedford area. NYSEG and Con Ed had crews on standby and they immediately started working to restore power. At this time in the Town of Bedford there are 233 NYSEG customers and around 100 Con Ed customers without power. All have estimated restoration times (ERTs) posted on the NYSEG outage list. I see some of the major roads (Bedford Rd in Katonah, Haines, and Babbitt) should be restored by early afternoon and most other roads show early evening ERTs. Winter Storm Hernando is here. Westchester County Government has issued a temporary road ban beginning tonight at 9PM due to the forecast for heavy snow and high winds.

Stay Safe Everyone!

Following guidance from the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Westchester County will institute a complete road ban beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Sunday, February 22, through 10 a.m. Monday, February 23.

The road ban is being implemented due to hazardous winter weather conditions expected overnight, including heavy snowfall and high winds. Roads are closed to all but essential travel (police, fire , EMS, utility/public works and hospital/medical personnel).

Residents should stay off the roads during this time period to allow emergency crews and road treatment teams to operate safely and effectively. Travel conditions are expected to be treacherous to impossible, particularly during the overnight hours.

We got about 16 inches of snow! Thanks to town employees and first responders who worked over the past 50+ hours to deal with the snow and ice and keep us safe.

Due to high demand for salt everywhere, our Highway Division has had to be conservative with its use, making clean up challenging in places.

Clearing sidewalks will be very time consuming.

Hamlet snow removal will also likely be a long process, up to 3 nights.

Thank you for your patience while TOB does its work.

Fortunatey we do not have any power outages but we understand wi fi service has been slow today.

Temperatures will be frigid throughout the week. Please bundle up and stay safe.

Thank you to TOB crews who have been out plowing and salting since the start of the storm and will continue until it’s done. Thank you to PD and volunteer first responders who also have been on call and working through the storm!

Tomorrow TOB offices are closed and, although the snow is supposed to stop mid morning, it will take some time to get the roads ready for drivers (salt doesn’t work as well with extreme cold temps). So please avoid travel so our crews and emergency responders can do their work and keep everyone safe. Thank you.

On January 26, 2026 we will be closed due to inclement weather. Please visit our website for department emails and for information.
