"The economic burden alone was $82.2 billion in the United States."

That's what our Executive Director, Melissa Greer, shared in a recent interview with FOX 12 Now about the true cost of Parkinson's disease, a cost that goes far beyond the diagnosis itself.

As Melissa put it: "The impact goes just beyond a diagnosis... so that's why services that we provide that are free are essential."

Parkinson's is now the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disorder in the world, just behind Alzheimer's, affecting an estimated 1 million people in the U.S. and 11 million worldwide, a number expected to double by 2050.

At Parkinson's Resources of Oregon, we've spent more than 46 years making sure cost is never the reason someone goes without support. From our free helpline to over 65 support groups across Oregon and SW Washington, our mission is simple: no one should face Parkinson's alone.

What a weekend!!! We are still smiling from Sole Support Portland, and we could not have asked for a better turnout. From the band and booths to the walkers, volunteers, and four-legged friends who joined in, every bit of it made the day special.

Sole Support Portland is almost here, and we are so excited to celebrate with all of you this weekend. Taking a look back at some of our favorite memories from years past while we count down the days.
