One of the most beautiful parts of Special Olympics is seeing how the whole family gets involved!

Stacie has been involved as a Unified Partner for her brother since she was just 8 years old. Ely has been cheering from the sidelines at bocce games since he was 1, and Paisley has been very impatiently waiting until she turned 8 so she could become her uncle’s bellringer! 🔔

This passion goes back another generation. Their grandfather, a retired State Police officer, has supported Special Olympics through donations, while their grandmother and her companion have coached, served as Unified Partners for Sean, volunteered at regionals, and even brought cookies to the team.

What an incredible legacy of support, inclusion, volunteering, and family! We’re so grateful for families like this who don’t just cheer from the sidelines, they show up, get involved, and make Special Olympics stronger.

Welcome to the team, Maddie Odegaard!

We’re excited to welcome Maddie to Special Olympics Oregon as our Development Associate.

Maddie brings 10 years of nonprofit experience across marketing, communications, operations, development, and more. Most recently, she served as Communications Coordinator at Vancouver Public Schools and Operations Manager at 21ten Theatre. She also works as a freelance Marketing Consultant with Oregon Child Abuse Solutions and can occasionally be found working merchandise stands at touring Broadway shows.

A true jack of all trades, Maddie is always eager to learn something new and add another skill to her toolbox.

Outside of work, Maddie enjoys cheering on the Seattle Mariners and Ridgefield Raptors with her husband, Kyle, getting out for nature walks, supporting local theatre, and baking sweet treats (usually cookies, or a cobbler with fresh berries from the farmers market).

We’re thrilled to have Maddie on board and excited for the experience, creativity, and enthusiasm she brings to our team. Most of all, she’s excited to be part of an organization that champions inclusivity, community, and opportunity for all.

Welcome, Maddie!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ryan Gabel and Brad Coen, Co-Founders of The Peer 150, to our office as they presented a generous check to our very own Rachel Parsons! 🙌💙

We’re incredibly grateful for their support and commitment to making a difference in our community. Thank you, Ryan and Brad! 💙
