Happy Pride! 🌈

Survivors who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community often face more barriers when attempting to access services and support while experiencing domestic violence. As a community, we need to continue working to break down those barriers to ensure that ALL survivors have access to safe, respectful, and inclusive services.

No one should live in fear of violence or be afraid to be who they are. πŸ’œ

Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness.

According to The National Network to End Domestic Violence's 20th Annual DV Counts Report, 87% of unmet requests for services in Oregon were related to shelter or housing.

Access to safe housing is a key part of someone being able leave a dangerous situation. At DVRC, we provide confidential crisis shelter, transitional housing, and short-term hotel stays to help survivors safely leave abusive relationships. You can help support these efforts by visiting www.dvrc-or.org/donate πŸ πŸ’œ

May is . 🏠 For domestic violence survivors, having access to safe, affordable housing can save their lives.

Unfortunately, a lack of housing options across the country means that survivors are often faced with impossible choices between abuse and homelessness.

Federal funding supports housing for survivors, but ongoing delays to this funding put survivors in danger. Take action NOW and tell Congress to address these dangerous funding delays: https://buff.ly/OyFNQiN

Last week, we attended a celebration for volunteer victim advocates who completed their training and became part of the Domestic Violence Response Team. DVRT advocates accompany police officers to provide on-scene crisis intervention and support for victims of domestic violence.

We are honored to be part of the network of support for HPD and its victims advocates to ensure survivors have access to safety and care 24/7. Congratulations to the new team! πŸ’œ

Survivors deserve access to programs and services that support their safety and healing. Federal funding is critical to ensure that those programs remain available and ready to serve survivors in need.

πŸš¨πŸ“ž Call 202-224-3121 to tell your Representatives or Senators to take action now.

🚨 ACTION ALERT! 🚨 Survivors deserve better than federal funding delays. Tell Congress to act NOW: https://buff.ly/29P4w4A

Domestic violence shelters, r**e crisis centers, and other programs have been experiencing federal funding delays. Additional delays will force programs to lay off staff, reduce services, and close their doors, leaving survivors with nowhere to go.

Congress must push for the DOJ and HHS to immediately publish NOFOs and expedite the release of congressionally appropriated funds. Survivors and programs can't wait.
