🚒🚑 Hands-On Extrication Training Helps Prepare Future EMS Providers

Last evening, Brighton Township Fire Department was proud to host the Community College of Beaver County EMT class for an evening of hands-on Vehicle Extrication training. Students participated in realistic motor vehicle accident scenarios where they worked alongside our personnel to learn patient packaging, scene safety, and vehicle extrication techniques.

Throughout the training, students gained firsthand experience using specialized rescue equipment, including hydraulic rescue tools known as the “Jaws of Life,” while seeing the importance of teamwork between EMS and fire personnel during emergency situations.

A special thank you to Supervisor Leslie R**e from Medic Rescue Ambulance Service for bringing an ambulance for students to tour and train with, providing valuable insight into patient care and EMS operations. We would also like to thank Jared Shablesky from Shell Polymers Monaca for bringing the Shell Polymers rescue truck along with additional rescue equipment and assistance during the training exercises.

At Brighton Township Fire Department, we are proud to help educate and mentor the next generation of EMS professionals. Opportunities like this allow students to build confidence, develop practical skills, and better prepare for careers in emergency services.

We appreciate everyone who helped make this training possible and wish these future EMS providers the best as they continue their education and careers serving their communities. 👩‍⚕️👨‍🚒

We are playing host to CCBC’s EMT program tonight for their vehicle extrication practical scenarios.

Students are doing a great job working through real-life scenarios and learning best practices for helping those injured in motor vehicle crashes.

Here are some photos from today’s Memorial Day Parade! It was a beautiful day filled with pride, remembrance, and community spirit as we came together to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. 🇺🇸

We are incredibly proud to represent our department and be part of such an amazing community. Seeing so many people come out to show their support, wave their flags, and pay tribute made the day even more meaningful. Events like this are a powerful reminder of the strength, gratitude, and unity that bring us all together.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make today so special. It was truly a great day, and we’re honored to share these moments with all of you.

As the day came to a close, our crews were still hard at work—spending the late evening hours carefully cleaning, polishing, and preparing our trucks to be parade-ready for the Memorial Day Parade in Beaver. Every detail mattered, and every member took pride in ensuring our apparatus reflected the honor and respect this important day deserves.

Participating in Memorial Day events is more than just a tradition for our department—it is a privilege. It is an opportunity to stand together as a community and pay tribute to the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As firefighters and first responders, we understand the meaning of service and sacrifice, and we are humbled to represent our department and community in remembrance of those who gave everything. We invite everyone to take a moment this Memorial Day to reflect, honor, and remember the heroes who laid down their lives for our country.

We are proud to participate in this meaningful event and look forward to standing alongside fellow first responders, veterans, and community members as we honor our fallen heroes.

Last evening, we proudly hosted our 2nd Community CPR Class at Fire Station #3, led by Captain Mark Vandenbord, Lieutenant Drew Snyder, and Firefighter Jared Shablesky.

Thanks to their outstanding instruction, 18 new CPR providers successfully completed both the classroom and hands-on practical portions of the course!

A special thank you to Learn 4 Life CPR - CPR & First Aid Training for generously donating pizza for the class, helping keep our students fueled and ready to learn throughout the evening.

These participants are now equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to step in during a critical emergency. If a loved one, family member, friend—or even a stranger—stops breathing, they are prepared to begin immediate lifesaving care and help sustain life until emergency medical personnel arrive.

Every person trained helps strengthen the safety net of our community. That’s 18 more individuals ready to make a difference when every second counts—and that’s something worth celebrating. 👏

Interested in becoming CPR certified? Keep an eye out for our next Community CPR Class this September—we’d love to have you join us!

💪 Better training.
⚡ Faster response.
🏘️ Stronger community.
