On Wednesday, June 24, our Agency welcomed family, friends, former and current employees, board members, and community partners to a Retirement Open House honoring Executive Director, Holly Kyle. The celebration recognized Holly's remarkable career and nearly 39 years of dedicated service to older adults living in Union and Snyder counties.
Throughout the afternoon, guests gathered to share memories, express their gratitude, and celebrate Holly's extraordinary legacy of leadership, compassion, and service. The event provided an opportunity for those whose lives and careers have been touched by Holly to thank her for her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of older adults.
Among those in attendance were representatives from the offices of Senator Lynda Culver and Senator Gene Yaw, who presented Holly with a Pennsylvania Senate Citation in recognition of her nearly four decades of outstanding public service and her many contributions to older adults throughout the region.
Holly began her career with the Agency in November 1987 as a Protective Services Caseworker. She was promoted to Supervisor in 1990, became Deputy Director in 2003, and was appointed as the Agency's second Executive Director in March 2006. Throughout her distinguished career, Holly has worked in nearly every aspect of the Agency's operations, from case management and protective services to organizational leadership.
Under Holly's leadership, our Agency expanded its senior center services, developed innovative housing initiatives including the Elder Cottage Housing Opportunity and Shared Housing programs, and played a critical role in protecting older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic by coordinating mobile vaccination clinics that brought vaccines directly into communities. She also led regional collaborations, expanded in-home services, and championed cultural competency initiatives that strengthened support for thousands of older adults and their families.
Beyond her many accomplishments, Holly will be remembered for her genuine compassion, thoughtful leadership, and unwavering dedication to those she served. She has mentored countless staff members, built lasting partnerships throughout the region, and fostered a culture centered on dignity and respect.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended the event and helped make the celebration so meaningful. While Holly's retirement marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in the Agency's history, her legacy will continue through Susie Weller, who began as the new Executive Director effective July 6.
