PLAY BALL!!!!

Tomorrow, April 17th, is the Opening Day Parade and Ceremonies for Riverside Youth Baseball and Softball!!!

To ensure a safe event for our players, coaches and spectators, Route 65 will be closed from Route 588 to Harper’s Ferry Road at approximately 9:15 AM for the duration of the parade. Please exercise extreme caution in the area of the Route 588 and 65 intersection from 8:45-11:00 as there will be new traffic patterns and heavy pedestrian traffic.

We invite all of our neighbors and friends to join us and watch the parade from the Fire Department parking lot from 8:45-11.00 AM, but please remember to avoid the area shown in red, as we need to keep our Engine Bay doors open and unblocked by parked cars!

We also ask that you please promptly move your vehicles from the lot as soon as the parade concludes, as we have guests arriving at 11:00am for our Banquet Hall Facility!

Thank you all for your support, patience and consideration and hope to see you tomorrow!!!!

We are continuing to have a very active event, with many power outages, road closures and treacherous conditions. This has led to 19 calls for our firefighters in the last 7 hours, and we have had crews continuously working since the beginning of this event.

As a reminder, if you can, STAY OFF THE ROADS! Continue to exercise caution if you must drive. Road conditions can change rapidly with reports of downed trees, debris, and downed power lines causing several road closures. If you approach a non-functioning traffic signal, treat it as a four way stop. NEVER approach downed power lines. They are energized and extremely dangerous. Stay well away from them and keep others from approaching. Report all emergencies to 911 and your power provider if you experience an outage.

Firefighters and emergency personnel will continue to monitor the situation and respond to the requests for assistance. We appreciate your patience as we work through this very busy time.

Stay safe, and take care of your neighbors.

Residents and friends:

If you are in a low-lying or flood plain area along the Connoquenessing Creek, be aware that the creek is rising due to ice jams and melt/runoff.

Monitor the height of the creek at the link shared below and make plans to evacuate if needed. We urge you to use caution and preparation as rescue will be difficult in these conditions should you become stranded.

Stay safe and be alert!

🎅🔥 SANTA IS COMING TO THE TOWNSHIP!!!!

North Sewickley Township… we’ve mapped our annual Santa parade through our awesome township.

Saturday, December 20th starting at 12:00 PM NOON

We work hard to hit as many neighborhoods and main areas as we can, spreading Christmas cheer one siren an ho ho ho at a time. Due to the number of roads we won’t be able to travel every single street — but we still want to see YOU!

If we won’t be passing directly through your neighborhood, we’d love for you and your family to meet us at one of the big parking lots we’ll be stopping through along the route! Bundle up, grab the kids, bring your cheer, and come wave to Santa as the lights and sirens roll by! 🎄🎁

📅 Saturday, December 20
⏰ Starting at 12:00 PM (Noon)
🚒 Watch for lights, listen for sirens, and follow the route map once posted!

Let’s fill the township with holiday spirit — from road to road, parking lot to parking lot!

It is no secret that funding is one of the largest modern obstacles facing volunteer fire departments across the country.

We continually seek out and pursue any and all alternate funding opportunities and grants available to us in an effort to alleviate as much of the financial burden on our community residents as we possibly can.

We are proud to announce that we have applied for and have been awarded Norfolk Southern’s Safety First Grant. This grant provides funding for vital tools and equipment, helping us continue our mission to respond safely and effectively while further strengthening our emergency-response capabilities.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Norfolk Southern for making these funds available to us and for investing in the safety and effective response of our local first responders.

Thank you for your support!

Fire Prevention 2025 is in the books!

We have had so much fun over the past few days spending time with our Riverside friends!

This is truly our favorite time of year, and we love spending it with them all.

Nearly 450 students (including several proud fire department kiddos) were reached by our message of safety, preparedness and prevention.

Franklin Twp Volunteer Fire Department joined the fun and stopped by the high school to spend some time with Mr. Diianni’s RHS students.

Special HUGE thanks to the administration, staff and teachers for always welcoming us, working with us and making this possible!

Remember: Prevention is the best Firefighter!

Last night marked a historic moment for our department and community. After 31 faithful years of service, we officially retired our 1994 Pierce Lance, a truck that carried countless memories, answered countless calls, and stood as a symbol of protection for our township.

In its place, we proudly welcomed our brand-new 2025 Spartan into service! This milestone would not have been possible without the tireless dedication of our members, the support of our township supervisors, and the generosity of our community. YOU made this possible, and we are deeply grateful.

To mark the occasion, our Chaplain, Bud Fickley, led a special blessing ceremony, asking God’s protection over this new apparatus, that it may serve with the same courage, strength, and reliability as its predecessor.

Here’s to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and protecting the future together. Thank you for standing with us every step of the way.
