The Chippewa Twp Police Department DOES NOT endorse this activity but we are providing this public safety message with the hope that we can avoid any issues that may occur with the participants and our residents.

Blackhawk High School students are beginning their 2025 “Assassins” game.

This is a tradition that goes back several years, and is played in many communities, so many of you are probably already familiar.
This is a very organized game with very specific rules that must be followed in order to participate. The students work in teams to “eliminate” other players by sq**rting them with water guns.
What does this mean? If your child volunteers to play, they will be targeted by other teams who could be lurking in your bushes at night. Obviously, your children are encouraged to let you know that this will being going on…but your unsuspecting neighbors might not be aware.

For the next few weeks you might see these groups of kids running around neighborhoods, and potentially hiding in bushes with their sq**rt guns to eliminate their designated target (who will be a willing participant).

While we love to see your children having fun, we want everyone to be safe. We encourage all participants to utilize water guns that are immediately identifiable as a water gun, containing bright, vibrant colors with orange tips.

We also encourage all parents to notify your neighbors if your kid is participating. We do not want our residents to hesitate to call us if they observe suspicious activity in their neighborhood, however, we want everyone to be aware of the game.

As always, be smart, stay safe, and don’t hesitate to call 911 if you see something suspicious!

We are aware of the Snapchat message going around social media in reference to a threat to a School. Working along side the School District, FBI, and Harrisburg, we were quickly able to confirm that this is an old post that has resurfaced and has been spreading throughout not only our community but others in the surrounding area and further. Harrisburg and the FBI confirmed that there is no relation with this post to the Blackhawk School District. The School district will be sending a message to all families further explaining this after they draft said message.

Super Bowl LVII
Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk
Score the Big Win During Super Bowl LVII
With a Commitment to Sober Driving
[Harrisburg, PA] - During Super Bowl LVII, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is teaming up with the PA DUI Association to remind football fans
everywhere that Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk. Super Bowl LVII is on Sunday, February 12, 2023. If
you’re heading out to a Super Bowl party and you plan to drink alcohol, make sure you plan for a
designated driver to get you home safely at the night’s end.
“With the Philadelphia Eagles appearing in this year’s Super Bowl, festivities in Pennsylvania will be at a
fever’s pitch. We want our community members to enjoy Super Bowl celebrations, but we also want
people to be responsible,” said Leo Hegarty, Executive Director, PA DUI Association. “If you are planning
to be away from home during the Super Bowl, make a game plan to ensure you don’t find yourself without
a designated driver if you need one. If you’re hosting a party, make sure you take care of your designated
drivers. Remind your friends and family: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.”, said Hegarty.
Be the DD MVP
If you’re planning to be a designated driver, know that you are the night’s true MVP. Commit to a sober
evening, people are relying on you. If you are attending a party or are at a bar or restaurant, enjoy the
food, the company, and the nonalcoholic drinks. Encourage other designated drivers on social media by
using the hashtag . Your positive influence could help keep them on the right track. If
someone you know has been drinking and tries to drive, take their keys, and help them get home safely.
They may complain, but they’ll thank you later.
Host a Winning Party
If you’re hosting a party for this year’s Super Bowl, prepare plenty of snacks and nonalcoholic drinks for
your guests and designated drivers. Ask your guests to designate their sober drivers in advance. Remind
drinking guests they have a long evening ahead of them, and encourage them to pace themselves, to eat
food, and to drink plenty of water. Another important reminder: Never serve alcohol to minors. If an
underage person drinks and drives, the person who provided the alcohol can be held liable for any
damage, injury, or death caused by the underage driver.
Have a Game Plan
Whether you are attending a party or going to a bar or restaurant, make a game plan and follow these
simple tips for a safe and happy evening:
• Remember it is never okay to drink and drive. Designate a sober driver or plan to use a ride
service, call a taxi, or a sober friend to get you home safely.
• If available, use your community’s sober ride program.

driving related crashes with 311 fatalities. Specific to 2022, on Super Bowl Sunday through 6 AM the
following morning, there were 46 impaired driving related crashes with one fatality.

These crashes could cause you, someone you love, or a total stranger to suffer serious injuries or even
death.

Super Bowl LVII Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk
FACT SHEET & TALKING POINTS

Each year, the Super Bowl garners millions of viewers, with many taking the opportunity to cheer on their favorite team with a night out or by attending a party. To help keep Americans safe on the roads, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is teaming up with [Local Organization] to remind football enthusiasts that Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk. This year, the Big Game falls on Sunday, February 12, 2023. If you plan to drink alcohol, plan for a sober ride home. If you’re hosting a party, take care of your guests. Keep reading for tips on how to stay safe on Super Bowl Sunday.

Designated Drivers
• Take your role as designated driver seriously — people are relying on you. If you’re attending a party, enjoy the food and nonalcoholic drinks. Refrain from any alcoholic beverages or other drugs.
• Boast about your MVP status on social media using the hashtag . Your positive influence could help keep other sober drivers on the right track.
• Always buckle your seat belt and require any passengers to do the same. Don’t start the car until all passengers’ seat belts are buckled.
• If someone you know has been drinking and tries to drive, take their keys and help them get home safely. They may complain, but they’ll thank you later.

Prepare for a Safe Huddle
If you plan to attend a party, make sure your evening includes a plan for getting home safely. Follow these safety tips, and you’ll be on your way to being an MVP.
• You know the rules: It’s illegal to drive drunk. Before you head out to a Super Bowl party, make a game plan that includes a sober driver — someone who will not drink at all, and will safely bring you home.
• Make sure your designated driver is actually sober. If he or she decides to drink unexpectedly, call a sober ride.
• When you ride home with your sober driver, make sure you — and your driver — wear your seat belts. It’s your best defense in a crash.
• If available, use your community’s sober ride program [Insert your local sober ride program specifics here].

Hosts
If you are hosting a Super Bowl party, be sure all your guests have a sober ride home.
• Ask your guests to designate their sober drivers in advance.
• Encourage your drinking guests to pace themselves, eat food, and drink plenty of water.
• Serve a selection of nonalcoholic drinks.
• Do not serve alcohol to minors. If an underage person drinks and drives, the person who provided the alcohol can be held liable for any damage, injury, or death caused by the underage driver. In fact, you can face jail time if you host a party where alcohol is served to people under the age of 21.
Know the Risks
Impaired driving is a serious problem with serious consequences. Don’t become another statistic.
• In 2020, there were 11,654 people killed in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes.
• Drunk driving can have a range of consequences, including the possibility of causing a traumatic crash. These crashes could cause you, someone you love, or a total stranger to suffer serious injuries or even death. The social and emotional ramifications of drunk driving are far-reaching as well; imagine having to live with the knowledge that you made a choice that caused someone else’s injury or death.
• The financial impact from impaired-driving crashes is devastating on our economy. Based on 2010 numbers (the most recent year for which cost data is available), impaired-driving crashes cost the United States $44 billion annually.

For Super Bowl LVII, be a team player and remember: Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk. For more information on the dangers of drunk driving, visit www.nhtsa.gov/risky-driving/drunk-driving.
