🚨 IMPORTANT TRAFFIC ALERT – ROUTE 65 BRIDGE CLOSURE 🚨

📍 Beaver County | North Sewickley & Franklin Townships

PennDOT has announced that the Route 65 bridge over Connoquenessing Creek will be CLOSED for 33 DAYS beginning:

📅 Monday, September 21, 2026
⏰ 6:00 AM
➡️ Closure expected to continue through 6:00 AM Saturday, October 24

The closure will affect Route 65 between Country Club Road and Mercer Road (Route 1006).

🚧 WHAT’S HAPPENING?

The existing three-span steel bridge will be completely replaced as part of a $9.45 million project. Crews will demolish the current bridge and use accelerated bridge construction techniques to install a new precast modular concrete bridge.

Additional improvements will include:
• Drainage improvements
• Intersection upgrades
• New signs and pavement markings
• Planting and seeding in affected areas

🚗 CAR DETOUR – SOUTH OF THE CLOSURE

From Route 65:
➡️ Chapel Drive
➡️ Left onto Celia Road
➡️ Left onto Shadyrest Road
➡️ Left onto Route 288
➡️ Continue to Route 65/River Road

Northbound traffic will follow the same detour in reverse.

🚛 TRUCK TRAFFIC

Truck traffic will be required to follow a separate, longer detour utilizing Route 588, the Eastvale Bridge, Route 18 and Route 351.

⚠️ PLEASE PLAN AHEAD

If you regularly travel Route 65, allow extra time, expect delays, and consider an alternate route whenever possible.

Please use EXTREME CAUTION around the work zone and pay close attention to all posted detour signs.

🏗️ The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of October 2026, while the overall project is anticipated to be completed in spring 2027.

The North Sewickley Township Police Department is reaching out with a sincere and heartfelt request for help from our community.

Located at 944 Brighton Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117, Locust Grove Cemetery was once a beautiful and peaceful resting place for many loved ones in our area. Unfortunately, due to limited funding and lack of ongoing maintenance resources, the cemetery has become severely overgrown and difficult to properly care for.

Many gravesites belonging to parents, grandparents, veterans, friends, and family members are now in desperate need of cleanup, restoration, and maintenance. Families visiting their loved ones are often saddened by the current condition of the grounds.

We are asking our community to come together to help preserve the dignity and beauty of this historic cemetery. Whether through volunteering your time, donating equipment or supplies, providing financial assistance, or simply sharing this post, every contribution can make a meaningful difference.

If you know of individuals, organizations, churches, local businesses, landscapers, or volunteers willing to assist, please reach out. Together, we can restore Locust Grove Cemetery and ensure those laid to rest there are honored with the respect and care they deserve.

On behalf of the North Sewickley Township Police Department, we thank you for your compassion, support, and willingness to help our community preserve this important place of remembrance.

Please share this post to help spread the word.
