Gaming can be a place to play, socialise and belong. It can also involve voice chat, private messages and conversations with people your child has never met offline.
Instead of starting with “Is that game safe?”, get curious about how your child uses it:
Who do you usually play with? Can anyone message you? What happens if someone makes you uncomfortable? Do conversations ever move to another app?
The goal is to understand their online world well enough that they’ll feel comfortable telling you when something doesn’t feel right.
