LTC Dezerie Jemmott, Commander, 842nd Transportation Battalion, participated in the “Mobilizing Military Logistics in Texas: Missions, Procurement & Collaboration” panel at the National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) Texas 2025 Regional Meeting, held in the iconic Texas State Capitol. Moderated by NDTA North Texas President Stephen Bullard, the panel brought together leaders from across the defense logistics ecosystem to share perspectives on the current and future state of military logistics across Texas.
Representing the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), LTC Jemmott discussed how the 842nd leverages Texas’ strategic port infrastructure, specifically Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Corpus Christi to synchronize the global movement of equipment and materiel. She highlighted the critical importance of Reserve Soldiers, who provide invaluable depth and flexibility to the mission, and emphasized the need for continued investment in infrastructure resilience. LTC Jemmott also underscored the essential role of industry and port partners, the “4th Component”, whose collaboration and agility are fundamental to operational success. The strength of these relationships enables the battalion to diversify operations, build redundancy, and deliver at the speed of need.

The event, themed around enhancing military logistics in Texas, featured insightful sessions that tackled topics ranging from infrastructure investment to procurement strategy.
