March is National Ladder Safety Month, and your Beaumont Fire Department wants to make sure everyone in our community stays grounded. Whether you’re reaching for a high shelf in the kitchen or doing maintenance around the house, those simple tasks can be riskier than you think.

Did you know that ladder injuries lead to over 136,000 emergency room visits every year? In fact, you’re statistically more likely to be injured by a ladder than by a house fire or a microwave.

Keep these two tips in mind to stay safe:

Watch that last step: Missing the final step while climbing down is one of the most common causes of accidents.

Don't overreach: It’s tempting to stretch a little further, but overreaching is a leading cause of falls.

Let’s work together to keep Beaumont safe. Check out the attached flyers for more eye-opening stats and safety tips!

🔥 Our firefighters had a great time at the College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Career Fair at Beaumont United High School!

A huge thank you to Mrs. Douglas for hosting such a great event to help students prepare for their futures.

There were hundreds of students and over 75 vendors in attendance.

We enjoyed connecting with students, answering questions, and sharing what it means to serve the community as a Beaumont Firefighter.

Think you have what it takes?

🚨TRAINING EXERCISE NOTICE – February 12, 2026
The Beaumont Fire Department, in coordination with Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, is conducting a scheduled joint training exercise today in the area surrounding Fannin Street.

This exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen emergency response coordination between fire personnel and hospital staff, ensuring both agencies remain fully prepared for complex, real-world incidents. Training activities may include simulated medical emergencies, rescue scenarios, and coordinated vehicle movement.

Residents and commuters should expect temporary traffic delays and periodic lane closures on and around Fannin Street this morning. Traffic control personnel are on-site, and drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

This is only a training exercise. There is no danger to the public. Any emergency vehicles, alarms, or personnel seen in the area are part of the scheduled drill.

The Beaumont Fire Department and Baptist Hospitals appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we continue working together to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness.

📢 PSA: Space Heaters and Generator Safety
We know as temperatures drop many will try to heat their homes with space heaters and generators. While these can be helpful, they can also be dangerous so please keep these important things in mind:
⚠️ Space Heater Safety
• Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from anything flammable
• Never leave them unattended or use while sleeping
• Plug directly into a wall outlet, not an extension cord
⚠️ Generator Safety
• Never use generators indoors or in garages
• Keep generators at least 20 feet from doors and windows
• Carbon monoxide is invisible and deadly. Be sure to install CO detectors
Stay warm & safe, Beaumont. 💙

🚨 With freezing temperatures expected this weekend, the Beaumont Fire Marshal’s Office encourages residents and business owners to take a few simple steps to protect fire sprinkler systems. Cold weather can cause pipes to freeze and burst, leading to costly damage and loss of fire protection.

Business Owners:
• Keep heat set at 40°F or higher in all areas, including attics, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, vacant suites, and storage areas
• Keep garage doors closed to help protect overhead piping
• Drain dry systems by clearing low-point drum drips
• Check attic insulation to make sure pipes are fully covered
• Seal drafts near piping, windows, and exterior walls
• Have a licensed professional verify antifreeze levels meet NFPA standards

Homeowners:
• Don’t turn the heat off. Keep thermostats at 55°F or higher, especially when traveling
• Keep closet doors open where the sprinkler riser is located
• Make sure insulation stays in place around piping

If a Pipe Freezes or Bursts:
• Know where your shut-off valve is and close it right away
• Do not use open flames or torches to thaw pipes
• Use a space heater or hair dryer in the general area only
• Contact a licensed fire sprinkler contractor for repairs
• Business owners must notify the Fire Marshal’s Office if a system is shut down, as a fire watch may be required

📞 If you have questions or need to report a down system you can contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 409-880-3905. Let’s all work to stay warm and safe as we get through this cold snap together.
