Press Club of Southeast Texas The Press Club of Southeast Texas was incorporated in 1969 and is the proud sponsor of the Memorial Scholarship Award.

The Press Club of Southeast Texas draws its membership from Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, Liberty, Chambers, Jasper, Tyler, Polk and Newton counties. Beaumont, Texas, is in the center of this area. Press Club members are professionals in media, public relations, academia, public affairs, and corporate communication and public information.

Among its many activities to foster excellence, the Press Club hosts an annual Excellence in the Media contest, a Newsmaker of the Year Award, and supports communication scholarships at Lamar University. The Press Club’s monthly luncheon program meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month. You are welcome to stop by, but do call to verify the meeting location and date — our speakers’ schedules sometimes dictate alternate dates. Our programs begin promptly at 11:30 a.m., so if you plan to have lunch come a few minutes early. Visit our website often to find location and dates of future meetings and programs.

Last night's 35th Annual Excellence in the Media & Newsmaker of the Year Awards Gala was truly a night to remember!

Congratulations to our 2026 Newsmaker of the Year, "Big Rich" Courville, our 2026 Jack Pieper Award recipient Angel San Juan and to all contest winners! Your exceptional work and impact on the community is most deserving of these accolades.

It was also our pleasure to award four Press Club scholarships: Regina Ruiz (Lamar University Four-Year Scholarship), Brynn Courts (Lamar University Four-Year Scholarship), Ameona Carey (Lamar Institute of Technology Two Year Scholarship) and Callie Wright (High School Senior Scholarship).
