The Beaumont Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint on August 28th 2026 from 6:00pm to 1:00am at an undisclosed location.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.

Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improve traffic safety.

Beaumont Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational ma*****na are legal, driving under the influence of ma*****na is illegal.

Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.

The City of Beaumont uses license plate reader cameras as one tool to support public safety.

Our cameras:
❌ Do not record video
❌ Do not capture or identify faces
❌ Do not use facial-recognition technology
✅ Only captures limited, static images and identifying characteristics of vehicles (such as license plate numbers and vehicle features)

The system is not continuously monitored or used to track people in real-time. Officers conduct limited searches (dates, times, and locations) connected to reported crimes to help investigators develop leads on potential suspects, witnesses, and victims.

🔍 To help ensure responsible use, Beaumont officers must provide a valid case number and a specific investigative reason before conducting any search. All system use is documented and monitored.
