🚨 BOIL WATER NOTICE ISSUED FOR PARTS OF SOUTH BEAUMONT 🚨

The City of Beaumont has issued a boil water notice for customers in portions of South Beaumont after a cross-connection was discovered in the water system.

The issue has been identified and disconnected, and City crews are actively flushing the affected water mains. Water samples will be collected and tested before the notice can be lifted.

Affected areas include:
📍 6000 block through the 3800 block of US Highway 69
📍 6300 block through the 1500 block of State Highway 347
📍 Hebert Road
📍 All federal, state, and county prison facilities

If you live in the affected area, water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, or other consumption should be brought to a rolling boil for at least two minutes before use.

We know this is an inconvenience and appreciate your patience as crews work through the required testing process. We’ll share updates as soon as they become available, including when the boil water notice is lifted.

🕷️Beaumont! Don't be bugged out by pest-icides!🕷️

While maintaining your garden, lawn, and outdoor spaces, please be mindful when using pesticides. These chemicals can be harmful to people, animals, and can also contribute to stormwater pollution, which may lead to water contamination that affects fish and recreational activities.

Pesticides are substances used to protect lawns, gardens, crops, parks, and landscaped areas from pests. However, improper use of these chemicals can be hazardous to the environment.

By following a few simple guidelines, you can help minimize the harmful impact of pesticides on local waterways.

The City of Beaumont is aware of reported water quality concerns affecting a limited area of south Beaumont and is actively investigating the issue in coordination with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

As more information became available, the City expanded its investigation of the affected area. While no official boil water notice has been issued at this time, we are encouraging customers in the affected area to voluntarily boil water used for drinking, cooking, ice making, and brushing teeth out of an abundance of caution.

The affected areas include:
• The 6000 block of U.S. Highway 69 through the 3800 block of U.S. Highway 69
• The 6300 block of State Highway 347 through the 1500 block of State Highway 347
• Hebert Road
• The county, state, and federal prison facilities located in the area

Protecting public health and safety is our top priority. City crews are working closely with TCEQ to determine the cause of the issue and identify any necessary corrective actions.

If warranted by the findings of the investigation, the City may issue an official boil water notice and will immediately notify affected customers and provide additional instructions.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available.

We love it when we get to recognize City employees for doing great things for our community.

Today, Beaumont City Manager Chris Boone and Housing & Community Services Manager Jes Prince presented the Heart of the City Award to Whittney Walters, a Housing Program Specialist who is known for going above and beyond for the residents she serves.

Earlier this year, Whittney spent part of her day off on a City holiday helping a first-time homebuyer close on their new home so they could move in by Easter.

She also volunteers for the annual Point-in-Time Count, helping connect those experiencing homelessness with housing and support services, and serves as Board Secretary for the Fair Housing Coalition of Southeast Texas, where she works to promote fair and equal access to housing in our region.

Those are just a few examples of why Whittney was nominated for this recognition.

Congratulations, Whittney, and thank you for demonstrating the true Heart of our City every day. 💙
