Montessorians are problem solvers!

Our winner, Maureen, was super excited to get the student built shed. The path to its final location was a tricky one though. We wouldn't have made it without the help of the guys from Mark's Landscaping. They happily volunteered to help without knowing how hard it was going to be. It was well worth the effort though, we can't imagine a better home for our first shed. Congratulations, Maureen!

We are thrilled to partner with as we build our school garden! Our students now have their very own garden to dig in, plant seeds, and learn firsthand where their food comes from. If your school has been looking for a way to apply curriculum outside of the classroom, check out the Foundation's grants and build something that will inspire the next generation of healthy eaters! Maria Montessori’s wisdom about the adolescent centered around her observation of their need for meaningful work. She encouraged educators to get students outside the classroom and into appropriate adult experiences as much as possible during adolescence. As one way to put her wisdom into practice, all middle school students at Lowcountry Montessori School will participate in Career Exploration Week.

Immersive career exploration provides adolescents with real-world experiences as well as an opportunity to learn how to conduct themselves in a professional workplace environment. They observe firsthand how skills related to decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, and technology are employed on the job. Such experiences are helpful when the time comes to apply to colleges or technical schools or to seek employment after graduation.
