Beaufort County is alerting residents, businesses, property owners, and members of the public of a fraudulent email scam in which individuals are impersonating Beaufort County Planning and Zoning employees and requesting payment by wire transfer.

Beaufort County has been made aware of an email falsely representing itself as correspondence from "The Beaufort County Planning and Community Development" regarding a zoning map amendment application. The fraudulent correspondence advised the recipient that in order to proceed with the application review process they would need to wire funds to settle an alleged invoice.

The email was not sent by Beaufort County and we encourage all applicants, residents, and business owners to be vigilant and verify unexpected payment requests prior to sending or disclosing any information.

Before a new law enforcement officer hits the streets solo, they spend weeks working side-by-side with a Field Training Officer (FTO). One of the most important and often overlooked roles in an agency.

An FTO is a mentor, a teacher, an evaluator, and usually the very first role model a new officer has in this career. They take what a recruit learned in the classroom and turn it into real-world skills.

That means learning how to handle a call, write a report, talk to someone on the worst day of their life, and make sound decisions under pressure. It's a relationship built on trust and high standards, because how an FTO trains shapes the officer who responds to your call tomorrow.

Last week, our agency hosted a 21-hour Field Training Officer Class, bringing together officers from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Beaufort Police Department, and the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services.

Together, these officers are learning not just how to train, but how to help build the next generation of law enforcement professionals, and we thank them for taking the time to take this step.

🇺🇸 LET US DO GOOD. NEVER FORGET 9/11. 🇺🇸

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff P.J. Tanner were proud to support the 4th Annual Tunnel to Towers Low Country Golf Classic this weekend.

From our Color Guard proudly presenting our nation’s colors at Saturday’s banquet to members of our agency volunteering, attending, and participating in today’s golf outing, it was an honor to support a mission that gives back to our nation’s heroes and their families.

As we mark 25 years since September 11, 2001, we remain committed to remembering those we lost and honoring those who answered the call to serve.

We’ll continue that promise on November 8 at the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Bluffton, SC. If you haven’t signed up, join us as we run, walk, remember, and honor. 🇺🇸

Master Sergeant Herlong and Sergeant Mankin enjoyed spending time with our community at the “Recovery Is Worth the Walk” awareness event hosted by Nexus Care of Beaufort County.

Events like this help raise awareness, reduce stigma and remind those on the road to recovery that they are supported by a community that wants to see them succeed.

We’re grateful to Nexus Care of Beaufort County and everyone who came together to promote hope, healing and recovery. 💜

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

On September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage, sacrifice, and service that followed.

Today, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office joins our community and our nation in remembering those we lost and honoring the heroes whose courage continues to inspire us.

May we never forget the lives, the sacrifice, and the unity of September 11.

Never Forget. 9/11/2001 🇺🇸
