⚠️ UPDATE: Charles/Craven Street Drainage Project ⚠️

If you've noticed brightly colored floating barriers near the pavilion at the Waterfront Park, they're there for an important reason.
As part of Charles/Craven Street drainage improvements, Gulf Stream Contractors have installed a temporary turbidity curtain along the relieving platform near the seawall. The floating barrier helps prevent mud, dirt, sand, and other sediment from entering the Beaufort River during construction activities, protecting water quality while work is underway.
The turbidity curtain is a temporary environmental protection measure and will be removed once construction is complete.
Thank you for your patience as we continue making these important infrastructure improvements.

From the football field to the Yellow Footprints of Parris Island, current players and legends of the Atlanta Falcons got a firsthand look at the esteemed military institution that has long been an integral part of the Beaufort community.

The Atlanta Falcons visited Parris Island Recruit Depot on Wednesday, and witnessed the discipline, resilience, and teamwork required to earn the title of United States Marine. City of Beaufort Mayor Phil Cromer and City Manager Scott Marshall were honored to attend alongside community leaders.

We extend our sincere thanks to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. for the invitation and for its enduring impact on our nation and our community. We are equally grateful to the Falcons organization for their visit and for the thoughtful note recognizing Beaufort's hospitality ❤️

Moments like these showcase what makes Beaufort special, a community where military tradition, civic pride, and Southern hospitality come together.

Before smartphones. Before “text me when you get here.”

In Downtown Beaufort, people simply said, “Meet me at the clock.”

The historic People’s Bank Clock has been a familiar Bay Street landmark for generations. Originally associated with The People’s Bank, the clock was restored and returned to downtown, where it continues to mark the passage of time while serving as one of Beaufort’s most recognizable gathering spots.

Whether you’re heading to lunch, shopping local, enjoying the waterfront, or meeting friends for an evening downtown, chances are you’ve passed by this iconic piece of Beaufort history.

How many times have you used the clock as a meeting place?
