🌍 On This Day in Aviation History | June 18, 1928 ✈️

Amelia Earhart made history 97 years ago today as the first woman to cross the Atlantic Ocean by air — flying as a passenger aboard the Friendship with pilot Wilmer Stultz and mechanic Louis Gordon.

They departed from Newfoundland on June 17 and landed in Wales on June 18, after a 20-hour and 40-minute journey over the open ocean.
Though she didn’t pilot the aircraft on this flight, this moment launched Earhart into international fame and set the stage for her future achievements — including becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic just four years later.

Today, her courage and determination continue to inspire aviators around the world. 🌎🛩️
