HONOR and RESPECT...
Today, as we mark 16 years since his passing, we remember the life and service of Drill Instructor Sergeant Charles Taliano.
Taliano was born on May 9, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1963. In 1966, Taliano became a Drill Instructor and served at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C.. In 1968, Taliano was photographed on the drill field and the photo would be used in the famous 'Rose Garden' recruiting campaign. The photo was taken a month before Taliano left the Corps.
After a career in publishing, Taliano returned to Beaufort, South Carolina, in 2002, where he became the manager of the Parris Island Museum Gift Shop. Sadly, Chuck passed away in 2010 at the age of 65. The final resting place for Sergeant Taliano is in Beaufort, South Carolina at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
