Nexus Care of Beaufort County, a component of Beaufort County Government, is one of 46 agencies established under South Carolina law to help individuals and families troubled by alcohol, tobacco, & other drug-related problems Beaufort County government exists to serve the people of Beaufort County in a cost-effective manner, so all our citizens may enjoy and appreciate a protected quality of life,

natural and developed resources in a coastal environment, a diverse heritage, and economic well-being.

Nexus Care of Beaufort County, has launched naloxone kiosks throughout Beaufort County as part of a comprehensive opioid abatement strategy to end overdose fatalities. Each kiosk is stocked with up to 65 boxes of free, life-saving naloxone, a medication that can reverse opioid overdoses and save lives.

The Naloxone (Narcan) Kiosks, along with a vending machine, are located at:

During Monday's County Council meeting, County Administrator Michael Moore recognized several employees in his report.

One of those was our very own, Katie Godowns.

Senior Prevention Specialist, Katie Godowns, was recognized for 15 years of service with Nexus Care of Beaufort County. Katie has been a driving force of prevention efforts with her involvement in the Annual Recovery Walk, The DFC Coalition All Aboard Beaufort, as well as securing many grants for the department. She has strengthened so many lives by teaching lifeskills and was even awarded the 2024 South Carolina Association of Prevention Professionals & Advocates, Norman Peter Johnson Award.
