Today, Senator Rolison recognized Angela Zappala, School Psychologist at Sargent Elementary School, with the New York State Senate District 39 Educators Inspiring a Generation Award. This honor is presented to educational professionals who demonstrate an exceptional commitment to student success and serve as leaders within their school communities.

“Ms. Zappala has dedicated 26 years of service to our district and has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting students,” said Principal Dr. Cathryn Biordi. “Her compassion, expertise, and dedication are evident in everything she does. She has positively impacted the lives of countless students and families, and this recognition is a well-deserved tribute to her outstanding contributions to our school community.”

🐟 The time has come to release the South Avenue trout! Fifth grade students always look forward to the trout release at the end of the year, they also get to learn about fishing, watersheds and the ecosystem of the water in their own community. Thanks Mr. Burke for this fun filled that culminates such a wonderful unit of study!

As you swim confidently into the river, don’t forget - “Once a South Ave Panther, always a South Ave Panther (even if you are a trout!) 😉

Sharpe Reservation is one of those long-standing Beacon traditions that generations of Bulldogs never forget. Every year, our 5th graders head off for an overnight adventure filled with outdoor education, campfire camaraderie, teamwork, and all the nostalgic “90s childhood” vibes that make Sharpe so special.

One of the best parts? Many of the parents chaperoning today once walked these same trails as Beacon 5th graders themselves. It’s such a meaningful full-circle moment watching them share this experience with the next generation.

What was Sharpe like in the 90s? Just like this… and honestly, we like it that way. 💙💛🏕️

The Sargent Elementary TREP$ Club students (short for entrepreneurs!) had an amazing time selling their small business products at the Beacon Farmers Market yesterday!

Throughout the program, students learned the ins and outs of building a business from the ground up — including pricing, inventory, marketing, advertising, and customer service. We are so proud of their creativity, confidence, and hard work!

Experiences like TREP$ help bring our Portrait of a Graduate competencies to life by encouraging communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation in authentic, real-world ways.

A huge thank you to SERVPRO of Western Dutchess County for sponsoring the TREP$ program at Sargent! We can’t wait for next year! 💚💙

Congratulations to the Varsity Baseball Team on a tremendous season! The team competed Saturday in the Section IX Championship game and finished the year with an outstanding 19–4 record, winning the Division title for the second year in a row.

Thank you to the nine seniors and the entire coaching staff for your leadership, dedication, and hard work throughout the season. Although yesterday’s game didn’t end the way we had hoped, huge congratulations on an incredible season!
