MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

The Village of Beach Park's annual Spring Clean-up event will be held on Sat, May 2, 2026 for all Beach Park residential areas WEST of Lewis Ave (including the Cambridge subdivision) and Sat, May 9, 2026 for all residential areas EAST of Lewis Ave (including the mobile home parks)

The FREE paper shredding event taking place on Sat, May 9th at the Village Hall in the lower level parking lot from 130 - 430pm.

Waste Management will be mailing postcards with more information sometime this month to all Beach Park residents.

Prescribed Burn Scheduled at ThunderHawk Golf Club Today

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Forest Preserve District is conducting a prescribed burn today, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at ThunderHawk Golf Club near 29th Street, 33rd Street, and Green Bay Road.

Residents in the area may notice large plumes of smoke throughout the day. Officials stress that this is a controlled burn and there is no cause for alarm. The burn is part of the District’s ongoing Prescribed Burn Program, which is used to restore natural habitats, improve native plant growth, and reduce invasive species.

Authorities are asking the public not to call 911 regarding the smoke, as fire personnel are aware of the operation and conditions are being monitored.

Anyone with questions about the Prescribed Burn Program can contact David Cassin at 847-968-3427.

Updates will be provided if conditions change.

Applications for the 2025 Summer Youth Employment Program are being accepted now through April 15! The popular program, funded by the Lake County Board, offers youth, aged 14-18 (or 14-22 with an Individualized Education Plan) the opportunity for a paid, part-time work experience over the summer. ♻📣SWALCO is updating its list of accepted materials for Special Material Collection events!

Fire extinguishers, single-use propane cylinders, and smoke/CO detectors are not accepted at Household Chemical Waste (HCW) events because they are non-regulated waste. Our Special Material Collection events ensure the proper handling and disposal of these particular items for a fee. Fees cover the cost of handling, storing, recycling, and reusing these special materials. Household batteries are also accepted at Special Material Collection and HCW events at no cost.

These events are available by appointment only and will take place on one Wednesday every other month for residential waste only. Our first Special Material Collection event of 2026 will take place on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
