Full Moon Hike is happening this Saturday, August 29!

Step onto the trails at 7:30 pm and explore the Baytown Nature Center after dark. Listen for owls overhead. Watch for bats in flight. Spot raccoons and other nighttime creatures as the park shifts into its after-dark rhythm!

Ages: 10 to adult
Admission: $5 per person

🐦 BIRD LOVERS! Join us for Baytown Birding Week on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail!

From November 18–22, 2026, enjoy a 3.5-day birding experience featuring guided tours to six area birding locations and some of the region’s best wildlife viewing opportunities. Birders of all experience levels are welcome!

Located just 25 minutes east of Houston, Baytown is perfectly positioned for birders looking to explore the Texas Gulf Coast year-round. Situated along major migratory flyways and within an hour of several premier birding destinations, Baytown makes it easy to experience a variety of habitats and discover a new location each day.

Baytown Birding Week tours are exclusively for hotel guests who book four nights at the host hotel, Hyatt Regency Baytown, using the special Bird Week rate link. Once your hotel stay is booked, registration for the guided birding experience is FREE!

Complimentary transportation to and from birding locations is included. Participants are responsible for their own meals and any applicable admission fees.

Tyke Hike Is Back!

Tyke Hike returns to the Baytown Nature Center next month. Every Friday from September 4 through November 20, little explorers ages 3 to 5 can discover nature through fun, hands on activities.

The first adventure is September 4, where kids will learn all about rolly pollies and search for them in nature!

Each fall, millions of birds travel along the Texas coast as part of one of nature’s most remarkable seasonal journeys. Baytown’s location along the Central Flyway makes our wetlands, shorelines, and natural areas important stopover habitats where migratory birds can rest, feed, and recover as they move south for the winter.

The City of Baytown hosts the annual Nurture Nature Festival every second Saturday in October on Fall Migratory Bird Day (October 10, 2026) at the Baytown Nature Center to celebrate wildlife, unique wetland landscapes, and the incredible fall migratory bird season along the Texas coast.

The Baytown Parks, Recreation, Nature, and Tourism team envisions a community where residents, visitors, and nature can live in harmony and help one another thrive. Creating a bird-friendly community supports not only birds, but also local ecosystems, public health, and quality of life.

Tyke Hike is back at the Baytown Nature Center!

Held every Friday from September 4 through November 20, Tyke Hike gives little explorers ages 3 to 5 a chance to discover nature through fun, hands on activities.

Our first adventure is Friday, September 4, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, where kids will learn all about rolly pollies! They'll discover what these tiny creatures are, where they live, and practice their observation skills while searching for them in nature.

The Evening Explorers Walk is happening this Saturday, August 8, at the Baytown Nature Center!

Bring the family and slow down as the day fades into evening on this calm, one hour hike designed with young explorers in mind. It's short, relaxed, and full of small moments that spark curiosity.
