To the Citizens of Baytown,
I’ve never believed that serving in elected office was meant to be a career, but rather a season of service. For me, that season is coming to a close, and I will not be seeking reelection to the Baytown City Council.
Serving the citizens of District 5 and our entire community over the past six years has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I am deeply grateful for the trust you placed in me and for the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated council members, city staff, and countless community members who care deeply about Baytown.
As I’ve transitioned from different roles throughout my professional career, the hardest part has always been leaving the people behind. This time is no different. Baytown is blessed with exceptional city employees who faithfully serve our community every day, often without recognition. I will miss seeing them around City Hall, and I want to sincerely thank each of them for their dedication and commitment to the people of Baytown.
To everyone who has encouraged, supported, challenged, and prayed for me throughout this journey, thank you. It has been a true privilege to serve you.
Most importantly, I want to thank my wife and our children. From the very first campaign in 2020, they have sacrificed time, shared me with the community, and supported me every step of the way. Their love and encouragement have made this service possible, and I look forward to spending more time with them in this next season.
Baytown’s future is bright, and I know our community will continue to thrive.
May God bless the City of Baytown and all who live here.
Sincerely,
Jacob Powell
Baytown City Council, District 5
