In the past, the District pursued time-bound referenda with sunsets every few years. This year, the School Board has chosen to place a question before voters that would replace the expiring referendum with a single, permanent increase to the tax levy, known as a recurring referendum.

If approved, the funding would provide more predictability to the taxpayer and provide long-term stability to the District’s operating budget.

State law limits the amount of funding Wisconsin school districts can receive through property taxes and state aid, which hasn't kept pace with inflation since 2009. To meet rising costs, operational referendums are the only tool a school district has to work directly with voters to receive additional funding beyond the state-imposed limits.

Fox Point-Bayside has a referendum on the ballot this November. Learn more about our referendum and school funding on our website: www.foxbay.org/referendum

At Stormonth Elementary, building strong readers starts with helping students discover books they’re excited to pick up. Our teachers work with students to find books that match their interests and are just right for their reading level.

By making reading enjoyable, students can build their reading stamina and strengthen the literacy skills they’ll use all year long. 📖✨

Here’s to a year of great books and growing readers!

For the past 11 years, voter-approved referendum funding has helped Fox Point-Bayside maintain a high-quality, award-winning educational experience for our students.

That includes exceptional teachers and staff, small class sizes, personalized learning, enriching academic programs, student supports and extracurricular opportunities.

Continued referendum funding would help the District maintain these opportunities for current and future FPBS students.

09/19/2026

Our current $3.1 million operating referendum is set to expire at the end of the 2026–27 school year and represents approximately 19.5% of our operating funding.

Without a replacement, the annual budget will automatically DECREASE by approximately 19.5% for the first time since 2015, requiring significant budget cuts beginning in the 2027–28 school year.

That's why the Fox Point-Bayside School board is asking voters to consider a $3.95 million recurring operational referendum. The proposed amount is in response to increased inflation, rising costs, a decrease in state and federal funding, and the strong desire we heard from our community to maintain the Fox Point-Bayside educational experience for current and future students.
