A special thank you to Captain Andrechik for visiting the PENOBSCOT BAY before we set sail for an extended dry dock availability at the Coast Guard Yard in Baltimore, MD. We appreciate the visit and look forward to a safe return to home port following the long availability to continue the Sector New York mission. Last week, PENOBSCOT BAY hosted the Perth Amboy High School Naval JROTC on board the cutter! The students received hands-on training in navigation, plotting, damage control equipment, and heaving line throwing. Last week the crew of the PENOBSCOT BAY sailed to New London, CT! The crew went through extensive training in the virtual bridge simulators and practiced various transits through multiple ports under extreme weather and traffic conditions. BZ to the bridge team and BM1 McConnell for successfully leading the bridge team through these difficult transits!

Yesterday, the PENOBSCOT BAY hosted the Coast Guard Auxiliary on board the ship to formally recognize the efforts of 11 members. These outstanding volunteers have answered the call to duty by assisting the PENOBSCOT BAY in preparing and serving countless meals for the Coast Guard community and our crew, contributing greatly to our mission success. Congratulations to all the recipients of the Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation Medal and thank you for your hard work and dedication to our great Coast Guard!

Last week USCGC PENOBSCOT BAY had the privilege to train the Officer Candidates in the current Officer Candiate School class. The week consisted of the students learning damage control, engineering concepts, and seamanship. The class integrated with the crew and practiced watch standing in their perspective assignments to better prepare them as the future leaders of the Coast Guard on cutters. Many thanks to the U. S. Coast Guard Leadership Development Center for this successful week of training! Congratulations to the Officer Candidates for finishing the program strong! We look forward to seeing you all in the fleet!
