This post is referring to when the majority members voted to un-retire the FD 5 slot. The FD 5 slot was originally retired in honor of Mr. Glaston Temple, who had served for 60+ years on our department.

The number was not un-retired to strip Mr. Glaston of his honor and dedication. However, the family viewed it that way. It was not meant as an ill intent decision of the department. It was un-retired to open a slot for incoming full-time members.

I have spoke with the family to hear their thoughts and opinions on this matter. I have promised the family that we will resolve this issue immediately.

So as Chief of this department, I am making an executive decision that effective immediately, FD 5 is to be permanently retired again in honor of Mr. Glaston Temple's service, honor and dedication to our department.

We have been in contact with the family and the department as a whole has apologized for the frustration caused by this matter. We have resolved the issue to where the family is now pleased with the results.
