City of Bay St. Louis would like to remind candidates and property owners of the rules regarding political signs.

In accordance with the Bay St. Louis Zoning Ordinance Adopted August 8, 2017 Section 902.2 (E) - Political Signs:

"Political Signs: Signs advertising political candidates, referendum or similar issues shall not be placed or erected more than three (3) months in advance of any election, referendum or similar issue or event and shall be removed within five (5) days after the election. Such signs shall comply with size regulations pertinent to permanent signs contained herein. Political signs are permitted on private, commercial or institutional property."

Political signs may be placed in the City of Bay St. Louis starting August 3, 2026.

Signs are never allowed on the city right-of-way, including medians and public intersections. The right-of-way is generally identified by power lines and ditches on city streets. We encourage residents to place yard signs behind the power lines and on the backside of ditches on their private property. Any signs placed in the city right-of-way will be picked up and discarded by the City.

Thank you for supporting your candidates while helping keep Bay St. Louis clean and safe.
